Open textbooks
Textbooks that can be freely adopted as course texts, at no cost to the student. To be truly open, a textbook should specifically grant rights to its users that are less restrictive than standard copyright. The standard way to do this is through Creative Commons or some other licensing scheme that clearly lays out what users are allowed to do with the content.

- Open Textbook LibraryA compilation of e-textbooks that have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed. These books have been reviewed by faculty from a variety of colleges and universities to assess their quality. These books can be downloaded for no cost, or printed at low cost. All textbooks are either used at multiple higher education institutions; or affiliated with an institution, scholarly society, or professional organization.
